Shamanism Level 1
New! Building a Medicine Body
18-Month Apprenticeship in Shamanism Eva Rose Goetz, Jason Young, Traca Marshall and Maria Sanchez
A journey of Self-Healing sourced from the Sacred Path of Inca/Andean Shamanic Traditions. Meets 4 weekends: April 3-5 (South), October 2-4, (West), April 16-18, 2010 (North), September 24-26, 2010 (East)
For each 18-month apprenticeship, we meet 4 weekends spread over an 18-month span. Techniques and wisdom teachings of the South Americas become our tools and doorway for self-discovery. One direction is explored at each session. We examine who we are as we embody and face each direction. With grace we remember and reset ourselves once again toward the beauty of connection. Our work together will lead toward a deeper understanding of creating sacred space, prayer, intention, and alignment with Pacha Mama's (mother earth's) rhythms. Hands-on energy healing skills are an active part of this class. Together we create and hold a safe container for each other as we courageously begin unwinding stories and beliefs that no longer serve us. Here we heal ourselves, and from these humble beginnings we may catch our destiny. This class is for those who are dedicated toward walking a path of responsibility, consciousness, and heart. We honor the teachers who have graciously imparted their wisdoms so we may become active stewards of all life. Guided by Eva Rose Goetz. Assisted by Jason Young and Traca Marshall.
Location: Pacha Works, Falmouth, Maine
Cost: $425 each weekend includes meals and snacks (lovingly prepared by Maria Sanchez). A non-refundable deposit of $350 is required to hold your space and goes toward the last weekend. A 10% reduction is given for those paying for program in full. Returning Student Discount: $395 a weekend (10% reduction if paid in full). Limit: 14 participants per apprenticeship. An interview with Eva Rose Goetz and attending all 4 weekends required.New! Plant Medicine Classes Spend a day learning the language of trees.

Tree Medicine with Karen Thurlow-Kimball
The White Pine Tree First People/Native Americans have used White Pine for food and healing for generations. Karen will tell stories while teaching and share with us why The White Pine is called Peace Tree and is respected as a spiritual teacher. We will learn about this tree's offerings and medicine gifts. We will make infused oil from the bark of the White Pine, and explore the uses of this oil like how to make a salve from the oil. We will learn about brewing and uses of White Pine Tea. The tea can be used for treating the respiratory system and relieving symptoms of colds and influenza.
Karen Thurlow-Kimball is of Micmac descent and has studied traditional healing with Passamaquoddy Healer Fredda Paul. Karen has assisted Fredda in field walks and demonstrations through out Maine. She enjoys teaching others about the relationship they can have with plants and how to receive their teachings. She encourages people to understand plants they share this land with, and to integrate that relationship into their lives. Along with working with plants, Karen is self-employed as a web designer. She enjoys having a foot in both worlds: the modern/technical domain and the natural world.

Making Lotions and Oils from the Balsam Fir
In this class we will make lotion from the Balsam Fir tree. Balsam Fir lotion soothes chapped skin and can be used for cuts, sores and babies bottoms. Learn how simple and rewarding making herbal lotions and oils can be. In this class we learn how to make infused herbal oils. By using different herbal combinations and different oils to extract the herbal essences it is possible to make both strong medicinal oils and sweetly-scented body oils. Once we have gone over how to produce herbal oils, it is an easy step to produce a simple lotion.
